Cello #1

This Cello is completely my own model, conceived under the guidance of Juliet Barker and both our like of designing new models, to be a full sized instrument with smaller body for students.

The idea behind it is a full sized cello in terms of string and body length, the three bouts have been narrowed to accommodate a student who is ready to transition to a full size instrument but is still a little small. The reduced body widths make it easier to sit with and play. I used arching principals similar to viola making to ensure the reduced internal air volume was compensated for, the ‘ff’ holes are of my own design as is the Scroll and it is varnished with spirit varnish.
