About

I have been crafting stringed instruments in varying forms for more than two decades. I began my journey by creating electric guitars and basses for myself and local musicians.

As time went on, I became interested in making classical instruments attending the Cambridge Violin Makers School. There, I was fortunate to be taught by Juliet Barkers who provided me with a strong foundation that allowed me to excel at Newark.

After completing my schooling at the Newark School of Violin Making, I earned a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Musical Instrument Craft between 2017 to 2020.

Since leaving Newark, my primary focus has been on creating exceptional-quality instruments in the violin family. Combining my education at Newark with my years of experience, I have been able to bring a unique perspective to the craft. I am proud to say that my instruments are now showcased in prestigious galleries such as Bridgewood and Neitzert in London and Stanfords Strings in Stamford. Visitors are welcome to try and purchase my violins, violas and cellos at these galleries.

I am available for any new violin family commissions – I am particularly interested in the the technical and tonal aspects of the viola and cello.

By age 6, my grandfather had me sitting on his workbench, showing me how to craft walnut gun stocks.

Growing up in rural Norfolk heavily involved with my family’s business as artisan gun makers,  I honed my skill for fine detailed work from a young age.

As I grew up, my interest in high end craftsmanship continued, but I chose to focus my skills on something less violent, starting with working as a furniture maker, then combining being a musician with my wood craft to make my earlier instruments of the guitar/bass family. I still enjoy making these instruments and would consider commissions on unusual or interesting stringed instrument projects.

I was formerly a keen cello, guitar and bass player, but unfortunately, I had to stop playing stringed instruments due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, opting to continue my love of music by making beautiful instruments for other people to play.
